Charlie Puth has a dire message for Ye: Stop. The “Left and Right” singer took to his Instagram Story on Monday (Feb. 10) to plead with the artist formerly known as Kanye West to halt the sale of a controversial t-shirt.
“@ye The message you are sending out to the world is incredibly dangerous,” Puth wrote. “Please man, I beg you to stop. You are selling a t-shirt with a swastika on it, and MILLIONS of people are influenced by you. Please, I BEG you to stop, PLEASE.”
Puth’s plea follows Ye’s recent four-day spree of antisemitic, homophobic, and ableist posts on X, culminating in a Super Bowl commercial promoting a website selling a single item—a white t-shirt emblazoned with a swastika.
The Anti-Defamation League swiftly condemned Ye’s actions, warning of the dangers of amplifying Nazi symbols, especially at a time of rising antisemitic violence. "If we needed further proof of Kanye’s antisemitism, here it is," the organization stated. "The swastika, a symbol of Nazi hate, instilled fear in the 20th century and continues to do so today." The group also pointed out that the shirt was labeled "HH-01" on Ye’s site—interpreted as code for "Heil Hitler."
Ye’s inflammatory rhetoric, including statements like “I’m a Nazi” and “I love Hitler,” has drawn backlash from numerous public figures. Former Friends star David Schwimmer directly called on X owner Elon Musk to ban Ye, noting, “Kanye West has 32.7 million followers—twice the number of Jews worldwide. His hate speech leads to real-life violence.”
This isn’t Ye’s first controversy involving antisemitic remarks. In late 2022, he was removed from X (formerly Twitter) after posting a swastika merged with a Jewish star. His comments led to a massive fallout, with Adidas, Balenciaga, Gap, and his agency CAA severing ties, and his net worth plummeting.
On Sunday night, following his Super Bowl ad, Ye appeared to sign off from X, writing, “I’m logging out of Twitter. I appreciate Elon for allowing me to vent. It has been very cathartic to use the world as a sounding board.” At press time, it remained unclear whether Ye’s departure was voluntary or if his account had been suspended again.
