Shemar Moore is putting the brakes on the idea of expanding his family.

The Criminal Minds star made it clear he has no intentions of having a second child with his girlfriend, Jesiree Dizon, with whom he shares a 2-year-old daughter, Frankie.

During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show on January 24, Shemar, 54, got candid about his decision. "This is real life, I’m gonna keep it 100," he said. "My home, our home is full."

But it's not just Frankie who fills his home—Shemar is also a stepdad to Jesiree’s children from previous relationships: 6-year-old Charlie and 18-year-old Kaiden.

Shemar explained that, despite the joy of fatherhood, he’s also concerned about how much time he’ll be able to spend with his daughter as she grows. "I was raised an only child," he said. "At 54, I don’t want to worry twice. God willing, I make it to 90, that’s a blessed, full life for me, but that’s 37 years old for Frankie. That’s a full life for me, but maybe gone too soon for her."

With no plans for more kids, Shemar is focused on being the best father he can be to Frankie. "Whatever time I have left, god willing, I just want to give it all to my baby girl."

Shemar had previously shared that becoming a father was something he once thought might never happen. In January 2023, while announcing Jesiree’s pregnancy on The Jennifer Hudson Show, he admitted, "I was worried for a while that it was a ‘that ship has sailed’ kind of thing, but God had my back, and things lined up."

Jesiree, however, always knew Shemar would embrace fatherhood. In a June 2024 Instagram post, she wrote, "Daddy is a GREAT look on you. It’s your best role yet," adding, "You are our everything. We love you to the moon."

Shemar’s decision to remain a father of one mirrors a trend of famous dads who’ve embraced parenthood later in life, such as Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, and Mick Jagger.

Pacino, 83, welcomed a son with girlfriend Noor Alfallah in 2023. De Niro, 79, had his seventh child with Tiffany Chen in 2023, and Jagger, at 73, became a father for the eighth time with Melanie Hamrick. Each of these men has spoken about the special joy of parenting later in life.

It’s clear that, for Shemar and others, parenthood can be a deeply fulfilling experience, no matter when it happens.
