Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have officially finalized their divorce.
According to court documents obtained by TODAY.com, the couple settled their divorce following Lopez's filing for dissolution of marriage on August 20, 2024.
The documents reveal that Lopez will retain her green diamond engagement ring, which Affleck gave her in 2021 when they rekindled their romance. Affleck has waived any claim to her personal belongings, including her clothing, jewelry, and other personal effects in her possession, according to the legal filing.
Lopez has previously expressed the sentimental value of the green diamond, describing green as her favorite and lucky color. “It means so much when somebody really thinks about you, loves you, and sees you,” she shared in a message to her On the JLo subscribers in April 2022. “I’m feeling so lucky. It’s not often you get a second chance at true love.”
The pair married in Las Vegas on July 16, 2022, but separated less than two years later, on April 16, 2024. Lopez cited irreconcilable differences as the cause of their split. The couple has no children together. Lopez is a mother to 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme, whom she shares with her ex-husband Marc Anthony. Meanwhile, Affleck shares three children — Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 12 — with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner.
Following the divorce filing, Lopez discussed her new chapter during an October interview with comedian Nikki Glaser for Interview Magazine. Reflecting on her life, she described feeling “excited” about being single again after her “whole f---ing world exploded” in 2024.
“I’m not looking for anybody,” she said, emphasizing that the past summer taught her the importance of being “good on (her) own.”
