The ACLU of Maine, along with its New England counterparts, is suing former President Donald Trump over his directive to end birthright citizenship.
The order declares that the federal government will no longer recognize citizenship for children born in the United States to parents without legal status.
In a statement, the ACLU’s executive director condemned the move, stating:
“Denying citizenship to children born in the U.S. is not only unconstitutional but also a reckless and ruthless rejection of American values.”
