Her son shared the news on Instagram, announcing that his mother passed away on Monday.
Lynn Ban, a star of Bling Empire: New York and a renowned jewelry designer, tragically passed away at the age of 51 following a ski accident and subsequent brain surgery. Her son, Sebastian, shared the heartbreaking news via her Instagram account on Wednesday.
In his post, Sebastian revealed that his mother passed away on Monday and honored the legacy she leaves behind. “I know she wanted to share her journey after her accident and brain surgery, so I thought she would appreciate one last post sharing the news to those who supported her,” he wrote. “Many of you followed my mum but never had the chance to know her personally. I’d like to take this moment to share who she truly was.”
Sebastian described his mother as his best friend, the best mother he could ask for, and a loving figure to everyone she met. “She always had a smile on her face, even when things were tough during her recovery,” he continued. “She fought until the very end and was the strongest woman I knew. She was also the funniest and coolest mum imaginable.”
He emphasized how much she gave to their family. "She took care of me, my dad, and our entire family throughout her life. Even though she’s gone now, I’ll do everything I can to make sure she’s never forgotten and that her life is celebrated as it should be,” he concluded. “As a final message, I’ll miss you forever, Mum. I’ll end with something you always told me: ‘I love you more than life itself.’”
Ban’s friends and fans expressed their condolences online, including singer Rihanna, who wrote, “2025 is rocking me at this point! This is too much!!! Lynn, you will always be our fairy godmother! Love you forever and always.”
Ban’s co-star from Bling Empire: New York, Dorothy Wang, shared her thoughts, saying, “Sebastian, we’ve never met, but the way your mom lit up every time she spoke of you — I will never forget. She was a true badass and yet the kindest ray of light.”
Before her death, Ban had opened up about the accident she sustained while skiing in Aspen, Colorado, which led to the brain surgery. In a post shared last month, she described how she suffered a brain bleed after a fall on the slopes, leading to an emergency craniotomy. “Grateful and blessed to see the new year,” she had written in gratitude for her recovery.
Born in Singapore, Ban founded Lynn Ban Jewelry, which became a favorite of celebrities like Rihanna and Lady Gaga. Her designs were even featured in the September 2018 issue of Vogue, worn by Beyoncé.
Ban is survived by her son and her husband, Jett Kain, who was also her business partner.
