SZA is back with new music and a star-studded visual. The R&B sensation has dropped the music video for her lead single "Drive," featuring Ben Stiller. This release comes ahead of the much-anticipated Lana, the deluxe edition of her hit album SOS, set to arrive on the morning of December 20, as announced by the singer on social media.
The music video, directed by Bradley J. Calder, features Stiller lip-syncing to the slow-paced track while driving through a rainy landscape. In one poignant scene, Stiller steps out of the car onto a deserted road. As the car fades into the distance, the camera shifts to a forest, where a bug-eyed SZA playfully dances in the grass. The teaser for the track "Crybaby" plays in the background, creating an eerie connection to Lana’s album cover, which SZA previously shared on social media, as well as her quirky Hot Ones appearance disguised as a bug.
Earlier this week, SZA teased Stiller’s role in the video, sharing several behind-the-scenes clips on Instagram. In addition to unveiling her album news, she also promoted the release date for the second season of Stiller’s hit show Severance, which she is a fan of. Lana has been in the works since SOS dropped in December 2022, with the original album becoming one of the biggest successes of the year.
SZA had originally planned Lana to be a collection of outtakes and new songs, but as she revealed to Variety, it has grown into something more. "It was gonna be really soft because I had made all my screaming points and just wanted to glide, get out of my head, and say some shit that didn’t mean a fucking thing,” she shared last year.
In 2025, SZA will take her new music on the road as she joins Kendrick Lamar for the Grand National tour, starting in April. She was also featured on Lamar’s track “Luther” from his surprise album GNX.
