Teletalk Introduces Online SIM Service

Teletalk Bangladesh, the state-owned mobile phone operator, has introduced an online SIM service to make its services more accessible by bringing them directly to customers' doorsteps.

In collaboration with the Bangladesh Postal Department, customers can now order SIM cards online and either pick them up at local post offices or have them delivered to their homes via postal services.

The trial phase of this initiative was inaugurated on Wednesday by Md Nahid Islam, Adviser to the Prime Minister for Posts, Telecommunications, Information Technology, and Information and Broadcasting, at his office on Hare Road in Dhaka, according to a ministry press release.

The pilot program is initially available through 11 post offices in Rajshahi, Naogaon, and Chapainawabganj districts, with plans to expand to all post offices nationwide over time.

This partnership allows customers to select and order their preferred SIM numbers through Teletalk's website (teletalk.com.bd) under the "Online SIM" menu. Customers can either collect their SIM from a designated post office at BDT 250 or have it delivered to their home for BDT 300, with payment options via mobile wallets. An automated tracking number will enable customers to monitor the delivery status of their SIM.

The launch event was attended by senior officials, including Dr. Mohammad Mushfiqur Rahman, Secretary of the Posts and Telecommunications Division; Nurul Mabud Chowdhury, Managing Director of Teletalk; and SM Shahab Uddin, Director General of Bangladesh Post Office, among others.
